Link Shortener Bit.ly Short-sheeting Themselves?

Interesting TechCrunch article on what's happening with the link shorteners out there on the market.

While it might seem bit.ly is losing market share, that might be a phantom fall that has more to do with major publications like TechCrunch, HuffPo, and the NYT using their own custom bit.ly shorteners, which aren't being tracked in this data set.

But bit.ly is still the default link shortener on Twitter.com and many Twitter clients such as Tweetdeck. Some of the decline can be attributed to the launch of bit.ly Pro, which is a white-labeling short link service for publishers.
